Eleanor and the Valkyries and Norse Mythology

Eleanor has heard of the Valkyries, of course, she being a well-read woman in 1272, and the strolling troubadors who visit the castle will sing of them and of the strong Vikings who believe in their mythology. Naturally, the ladies in the castle are all agog at the thought of those strong Norsk Vikings, but, Eleanor has no time for them. She has time only for Lord Hugh–if only he had time for her. Perhaps if she became a Valkyrie, a woman warrior, she could make him notice her. If only….Eleanor sighs and gazes out the window. Tomorrow is the Day of the Valkyries, so, perhaps, Eleanor muses, perhaps, this might be her chance to snare Lord Hugh. What think you, fair readers?
